How To Get Dark Mode For Google Chrome Android

It’s been a week or two since Google has released the dark mode for the Windows version of Chrome. Many people like the design of the new dark mode, because it looks clean and is easy on the eyes with a dark omnibox.

But sadly the Android version does not come with a enabled dark mode on default. You have to change something in the browser’s flags to get the new dark mode. Here’s what you need to do.

How to get the dark mode?

First, you should make sure that you are on the latest version of Google Chrome. You need the version 74 for the dark mode to work.

Now, type in the URL bar chrome://flags and hit enter. On this site, touch on the search bar and type Android Chrome UI dark mode.

Enable this flag and touch on “Relaunch Now”. Close your browser and restart it.

Go to the three dots menu and go to “Settings” and there, you should find the section called “Dark mode”. Enable it and there you go, you have got the dark mode for Chrome now.

Google will probably change that in future versions you don’t need to enable a flag to get the dark mode, until then this should help.
