Samsung drops the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge from the list of smartphones that receive monthly safety updates. This means, the company follows the example of Google.
The Samsung Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge no longer get security updates. Manufacturer Samsung has removed the two smartphones that came on the market in April 2015 from the list of regularly updated devices. The S6 Edge Plus and S6 Active will still receive security patches, both released a few months after the S6 / S6 Edge. Means, the support of these two devices could also stop in a few months.
Mobile phones without current security patches will not be unusable, but users will take an increased risk. Especially users with sensitive data are required to exchange their smartphone for a newer model.
Alternatively, these users can access Custom Roms, which are often supported for longer. One of the best Custom Roms is LineAge OS.
